Communication in everyday life often follows familiar rhythms and expected responses. This installation explores how alternative communication styles—in the form of associative wordplay—might reshape the flow and tone of conversation. Does this playful approach create a new kind of closeness or distance, or perhaps a different flavor of both? Or might it echo the dynamics of ordinary conversation in a fresh way? Recorded at the height of the pandemic, the work approaches language in its simplest form, allowing for a connection that is freer yet often incomplete. Through improvised exchanges between pairs—some close, others separated by continents—the work examines how essential words create both a direct and fragmented closeness. In this delicate back-and-forth, connection becomes both immediate and unfinished, balancing between what is shared and what remains unsaid.
